Paul
Controller: Counter-fraud - Claims
1. What do you do?
I monitor and help to improve the technical skills of the Claims Validation Team as well as handling my own caseload. One of my main responsibilities is to detect and successfully repudiate fraudulent insurance claims. This involves providing evidence on behalf of the company in both Civil and Crown courts. Last year my team saved in excess of £7.5 million, which directly affects, in a positive way, Groupama Insurances’ bottom line. It’s a good feeling to be part of something that is so visible in the company’s results.
2. What do you need to be successful?
I have worked my way through the business, starting in 2002 working on the motor total loss team. I made way onto the Claims Validation Team and in 2009, I was promoted to my current role.
I have managed several projects that implemented systems enhancements to will make our work more effective and successful. The opportunity to project manage is also valuable experience for me. Groupama supported me in gaining my Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice giving me the confidence and skill to grow my role.
3. What's the Groupama difference?
I love being part of the bigger picture! We have representatives from all over the Groupama Group in Europe visiting the team as part of our “cross-country” project to learn how different territories handle business. Hopefully, the wider Group will use some of our best practice in the future.
