Groupama and the Distance Marketing Directive

The Distance Marketing Directive was brought into effect on the 9th October 2004 by the Financial Services (Distance Marketing ) Regulations 2004.

The Directive obliges intermediaries to provide certain information to clients whose insurance is not arranged face to face, and all intermediaries will need to familiarise themselves with the detail of the regulations to ensure that they are compliant.

Obligations under the directive include a need to supply certain information about Groupama Insurances in the event of a the sale of a policy to a retail customer ( as defined in the regulations). At the time of the sale you will need to inform your client that:

  • Groupama Insurances is Authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority

  • Groupama Insurances policies will include a 14 day "Cooling – Off" period

  • Groupama Insurances has a procedure for handling customer complaints which is contained within all policy documents – click here to download a PDF of the Groupama Customer Care leaflet

  • Groupama is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme
