Groupama UK acquires ChoiceQuote Insurance Services Limited

Groupama UK has confirmed that its GAN UK subsidiary has completed the purchase of ChoiceQuote Insurance Services Limited for an undisclosed sum. The change of ownership has received formal regulatory approval from the FSA.

ChoiceQuote Insurance Services Limited was established by Philip Catterall in 1995 and has developed from its initial concentration on standard personal lines insurance to focus on niche and non-standard motor covers with particular expertise in the insurance of taxis and motor trade road risks.

The ChoiceQuote business has grown strongly in recent years and at the end of 2008 will manage total premiums of £25 million. The company employs 79 staff from its Head Office in Liverpool and has satellite offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Glasgow.

ChoiceQuote will retain its brand and will continue to operate independently of Groupama's other UK broking investments under the direction of the existing management team, lead by CEO, Philip Catterall.

Speaking today, François-Xavier Boisseau, Chief Executive at Groupama UK said: "This is a strategic investment that gives us access to a number of valuable niche areas where we do not currently participate and also boosts our exposure to online trading - an area of particular strength for ChoiceQuote and something that we believe is important in securing access to market."

Commenting on the agreement, Phillip Catterall said: "I am delighted to have reached this agreement with Groupama UK. With their other broking investments in the UK they have demonstrated that they are very supportive shareholders with a very clear vision. These are exciting times for ChoiceQuote and I see a very bright future for the company under Groupama ownership."
