22 July 2008
Paul Cann joins from ING Banking Group
Groupama Insurances has appointed Paul Cann as HR Director. He joins the company from ING Bank on 16th July and will lead the development and implementation of the company's various people strategies as it continues its drive to be a great place to work. Paul will be based at Groupama's Head Office in the city of London and will head a Human Resources team of fifteen. He will report to Corporate Services Director, Paul Picknett.
A career HR professional with over 15 years experience in the financial sector, Paul Cann brings substantial expertise and experience to his new position at Groupama. He is an honours graduate from the London School of Economics and joins the company from the Wholesale Banking division of ING where he was Head of HR Operations.
Groupama's HR strategy has undergone significant development over the last few years to respond to a dynamic business environment requiring a high level of employee engagement. In particular, Groupama has launched a variety of initiatives to develop and attract talent together with a series of targeted schemes and projects to improve employee wellbeing. These have been designed to support the company's focus on being a great place to work. Paul will continue these efforts and will work with his new team to closely align the HR efforts with the changing business needs of Groupama Insurances.
Paul Picknett, Groupama's Director of Corporate Services said: ''Paul brings to Groupama a valuable combination of HR expertise and practical experience of dynamic change within the UK's finance sector. We have built a strong and well defined business culture at Groupama and this has been a key element of our recent success. The continuing development of our people and our investment in talent and building a great place to work will continue and it will be Paul's challenge to add to the real progress that we have achieved over the past few years. Our people remain right at the centre of our business strategy, as is evidenced by our recent enhanced IIP accreditation. I am sure that Paul has just the right qualities and skills to keep us focused and I am delighted that he has decided to join Groupama.''
Paul Cann succeeds Caroline Alexander who left Groupama earlier this year for family reasons.
Paul Cann commented: ''I have been really impressed by what I have seen and heard about Groupama. It is a business that is clearly going places and one that genuinely cares about its people. It is also a company that moves quickly and responds well to change. I am looking forward to joining the team and helping them build for what I fully expect to be an exciting future.''
